Its hard to tell from the picture. The white could be powdery mildew. Maybe compare some photos to see what you think. The brown roots could be do to that

1 gillaI wouldn't change the water because it is said that the plant makes root growing hormones and every time you change the water you get rid of them but if the water is starting to look horrible then change it
