Ive had this cutting of a hibiscus plant in water for at least half a year, and it hasnt grown any roots. It even bloomed once, and pushes out tiny leaves sometimes. A friend told me to sorta ”peel” the outside of it, but it hasnt helped. Is there anything i can do to make it root so i can pot it and finally have it grow normally? Like, it has literally been in water for MONTHS and months and months.

You could try putting it straight in a pot of dirt. I’ve had some plants root better in dirt and others that root better in water.

Not an expert here but thinking this thru, I would think the bud is an issue. That needs too much plant energy. And there should be a leaf node at the bottom from which the roots will grow. I don’t see one.

thanks guys, ill try both of these. chopped off the bud and cut off the extra stem, leaving a node at the bottom. planted in soil. wish her luck 🙏
