I adopted this Zz plant from a friend who moved to a different state. I've had it since around the middle of November 2025. I'm not sure when the last time it got repotted was and this is my first time owning one of these plants. I'm just wondering if I should repot it now or wait. There's 1 drainage hole in the current pot.
It might be best to pull it out just to see what conditions the roots are in. Also if it's super root bound you might have to break that pot. If you can get it out now without harming the pot then do so. Zzzz plants love being root bound though. At this point it's most likely personal preference on if you want to repot

I agree with Demeter. I’d take a look at the roots since you got her 9 months ago. They grow from rhizomes and since it’s in a ceramic pot you won’t know when they have outgrown their space as easily. With a plastic pot (I love my clear plastic pots) you will see them warping the containers and know when they have become “overly root bound.” Everyone talks about Plants who have an affinity to being root bound, but let’s not forget those roots need air and if there’s too many roots, the air circulation doesn’t happen. It’s kind of a fine balance. Happy growing!
