hi guys! I just recently ordered this calathea dottie, she arrived pretty unhappy. I’m not sure what to do. I’m assuming it is from traveling, but the soil is still damp so I don’t think it needs watered or anything. should I chop the leaves that are brown or just leave it and let it do its thing? I’ve heard these plants are sensitive so I’m nervous to do anything wrong lol.

I think it’s a humidity issue, they love humidity and so being stuck in a dry box probably wouldn’t make it very happy lol

That’s what I was thinking too! do you think I should just leave the leafs how they are or chop them?

Ummm I’d leave them unless they start getting even more brown but they still have some good photosynthesis potential so I’d leave them to not fully shock the princess

It’s a Calathea, best of luck. Mine just get like this no matter what I do. I was told unless you can perfectly mimic a rainforest floor, you just gotta learn to love the defects. If there’s any way you can increase humidity as much as possible do it. Also try watering from the bottom by placing it in a bowl of water to soak up. I was given this advice and it has helped some (maybe they don’t like water on their leaves?? idk but whatever works 🤷‍♀️)
