Hi everyone, I have a Peace lily ‘Sensation’ in a pot (with a drainage hole) in one of our bathroom, next to a window (North facing). The plant recently started showing some black spots on leaves edge. I am not sure if its due to overwatering (that is my guess), or too much sunlight. I used to water them with watering can but now have to moved to bottom watering just because I think i might be overwatering them (even though all have a drainage hole) Could you please guide me on what I might be doing wrong? Or how to fix this up? Do I have to move my plant to a different location? Thanks for your help and feedback.

I’d definitely check her roots, and maybe try bottom watering! You may be flooding the soil if you’re too watering, this can cause root rot. I’ve seen some people cut the decaying part of the leaf off as well and that may help a bit.

Let her dry out, make sure top soil is dry to the touch. You should look into repotting her. Take her out while she’s dry, take off as much access soil as you can. Clean her roots in a hydrogen peroxide and water solution. Grab a bowl, mix one cup hydrogen and two-three cups water. Hydrogen peroxide should be 2-3% base. Once all the soil is off your roots, submerge the roots in the hydro/water mix. JUST THE ROOTS. Give the roots a massage. Gently going through each one. Don’t be scared if some fall off. Do this until you’ve gone through all the roots. Don’t be slow but don’t be quick. Then put your plant aside and let her dry off for about 10 minutes. Repot her in a tropical mix, because Peace Lily’s are tropical. Give her a good watering and wait a week or week and a half. Don’t move her too much because all this will shock her a bit so be very gentle with her. It could be a fungus and or root rot. Hope this helps!

Looks like overwatering. Adjust the watering schedule to water less. You can customize the watering schedule in the app. Check for root rot. Cut off the rotten roots, disinfect and change out the soil as Mia described above.

I have moved to bottom watering recently, this might be due to earlier watering so hopefully it wont happen again once I fix this. Thank you.

Its fungus season! Unfortunately its gonna be hard to keep her clean and healthy if shes used to the humidity of the bathroom. Ziploc greenhouse?

Will look into that too to protect from the fungus season then. Thank you.
