So I’m having a little trouble with my monstera. Monsty here decided that she would like to fall right out of her pot! I’m thinking about using a chopstick as a stake, and tying her to it with some string. Is this the best course of action? If not, what should I do instead?

She’ll need something bigger than a chopstick. Recommend a moss pole

Alright I’ll look into them! Where would you recommend buying one?

There’s several kinds. I personally like the “looser” types. I think they’re easier to keep moist for the plant. I make my own but I know these types are pretty popular. You’ll need to buy sphagnum moss for it too. Just get a small brick. The small ones should be enough for two poles

Get a moss pole! :) you can find some at the dollar store, dollar general, and Home Depot. Plus they usually stack! :)

Monstera deliciosa will get too big for moss poles (see photo—got this big in 2 years), in my opinion. I prefer green gardening stakes from Home Depot (you can buy them at various heights-4,5,6 feet, etc). At the current height a 3 foot bamboo stake off Amazon would probably be good starting point. Also, less messy than a moss pole. And I use gardener’s Velcro instead of string (also on Amazon) because it’s easier to work with.

second this. moss poles are only appropriate for smaller vining plants, “beefy” epiphytes like monstera deliciosa and certain philodendrons benefit from a sturdier support like a wooden stake or board. a trellis may be a good option for a fuller plant.
