Someone help me please! Hello, I just started collecting plants last year in the summer and the other day I decided to get my first Caladium. Since I have got it, I notice it is very droopy. Side note- I originally had this plant father away from the window then it is now but still got a good amount of sunlight. (It is also an east facing window.) I was using the apps watering schedule when I first got this plant. That was until it started to get droopy. I assumed it needed some more water so I started watering it a bit more frequently but that doesn’t seem to be doing anything. The soil that it stays in keeps very moist and damp so I try to be aware of that when I am watering it. I have now put the plant in the east facing window as the app was persuading and telling me to. Again, this doesn’t seem to be working. The plant has been loosing color to its leaves and has continued to become more and more droopy. If anyone has any thought or ideas on what I can do help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :D

I would say given the details that this is a case of bad soil and probably overwatering (the app is notorious for overwatering and if you watered more than the app then that’s probably causing root rot of some kind). I’d give it a repot, check the roots and prune back any brown sludgy ones, and put it in an aroid potting mix 🤞🏼

Definitely sounds like over-watering. You want the soil to almost completely dry out before watering again However I also wanted to add that it’s very difficult to grow caladiums indoors. These guys are not as adaptable to indoor conditions as other tropical plants. So the lack of humidity can also make the leaves droop I keep mine on my balcony all spring & summer. It kinda works out because caladiums go dormant in the winter. I put the bulb somewhere dark over winter (indoors), then replant it in the spring to let the plant grow back

Ok I will try to see if it likes outside better. Where I live it reaches to 100 degrees occasionally or even higher, should I bring the plant in those days? Thank you for your help!

Yes, good thinking. Mine tolerates 90F but I think any higher would be too hot

I killed my first caladium through overwatering :(

Ya I think that is probably what I am doing. After I repot and check for root rot, I am going to water it less. Sorry about your caladium though, they are very pretty plants. :(
