What my golden pothos looked like during summer compared to now, the soil is drying out so fast so idk if I need to be watering it more or if I’m over watering?? I only water if the soil is dry when I stick my finger in

How far do you stick your finger into the soil when you check?

Could be root rot then. Pothos are very prone to root rot and need to dry completely before being watered again.

It could also be insufficient light if it was growing well during the summer and starts to die off during winter. Plants need 8-10 hours of indirect light. Less light means reduced growth and less water used by the plants. Excess water in the soil can lead to root rot especially if the plant is watered before the soil dries out.

So should I start waiting longer before watering or is it too far gone and I’d be better off just propagating ? I had never had any plants really until half a year ago when a lady was selling them at the farmers market and I became a little obsessed so idk much abt these things yet

It’s understandable. It takes awhile to get comfortable with new plants. You can cut the long vines with missing leaves and propagate those in water, return them to the pot after roots grow or start new pots with them. The rest of the original plant should put out new growth later. Just give it light, let the soil dry between watering and fertilize at least once a month in colder months.
