Hi! Back again for more help. I just did a huge repot of all of my plants a week ago after months of battling fungus gnats. Everything seems to be cleared up so I splurged and got a Polly and a few other and all looked well…I am checking everything today and I see this. Is this spider mites? I sure hope not but 😩

It does look like spider mite unfortunately. You can find pest treatments at the store or you can find recipes online you can mix yourself. I use a mix of water, neem oil, isopropyl alcohol, and peppermint Castile soap and spray liberally and wipe your plant down thoroughly. You can use your shower or sink to spray down the plant to knock off anything you can

I’m so upset 😭 this has been such a learning curve! I immediately washed it and sprayed it down heavily with that mixture, except the soap. I had every else on hand. I moved it across the room as well so that it would be alone. So far this seems like the only one that has it so hopefully I caught it fast enough. What do you recommend for treatment schedule? Daily cleaning? Every few days?

No problem, happy to help! Yes separate it and I would recommend checking it every 4-6 days to ensure they aren’t coming back and treating it almost every 2 weeks. Another really great pesticide to use is systemic granules. It kills everything in the soil and any eggs pest may lay in the tissue of your plant

Spider mites produce a stocking like web on the plant. This could be thrips which are mostly white and very small. The treatment is the same. Use neem oil or an insecticidal soap. I recommend avoiding alcohol sprays that can damage the plant. Isopropyl alcohol is typically used on a cotton swab to dab onto individual mealybugs.

Ok good to know. There was some small webbing on it but so far today I don’t see anything. The leaves do look less green today so I’m afraid I’ll loose the plant anyway.

Check the roots. I see the yellow sticky in the background. The dying leaf could have root rot. Check for rot on the roots and remove, if any. Let the soil dry out more between watering.
