Alocasia silver dragon Is she saveable ?!:(
Alocasia silver dragon Is she saveable ?!:(
Not sure if it’s rotted out or too dry but this was my silver dragon mishap. I actually rotted mine out. When I took her out of the soil, I softly rubbed away all the rotted roots and rinsed the “bulb” part with a little hydrogen peroxide and water. That was a month ago. I soaked some sphagnum in water with root zone and super thrive, squeezed out all the excess, and set my little leftover in its little “nest”. I was scared to bury it right away but once I started seeing roots, I pulled some of the moss up over them. It’s been a month but I’m finally seeing some signs of an another leaf, after accidentally BREAKING the first center sprout earlier this week😭. I keep it in a cloche to maintain moisture. I haven’t watered it once since it’s been in there and despite some advice I rarely air it out. It’s getting high light under a Barrina T5 and a soltech grove. I think that and the humidity has helped. Worth the set it and forget it process to me. I gave a hard time of letting go before I try to save something☺️
1 LikeYes. She’s savable. Ive been in battle with my emotional Alocasia. Move her to leca, buy plant food for hydroponic house plants and leave her be. She will bounce back. Mine did. And it was in bad shape.
0 LikesAlso I started moving my alocasias to semi-hydro and they’ve been doing so much better. But I tried this one in the no drainage setup, which I use for my zebrinas, it went down very fast. I am going to try her in pon once she is ready to transfer.
0 LikesThank you so much going to try and do that now !!
0 LikesYou’re very welcome. Good luck! 🤗
1 LikeThey actually don’t look bad. Just tiny. Maybe you will be fine as long as you watch out for over watering. You could also repot in a clear pot to monitor the moisture and watch for new root growth. Check out YouTube videos also for alocasias in semi-hydro if you want to give that a try.
1 LikeYou can save it.

Mine has completely died back, dried out, traveled across state, didn’t get watered, and I put it outside and now it has 3 leaves. Unsure if zombie or 🤷🏻♀️
