Hello, so I’ve had this rubber plant for a couple of months now and it has done literally nothing. As it is in the picture is EXACTLY how it was when I got it. No new leaves have come out, the new leaf hasn’t unfurled anymore or grown and what looks like a new leaf bud also hasn’t changed at all. Is this normal? And if it isn’t, what shall I do? Cut off the new ones and hope it starts to regrow?

Unsure if this will help, my tineke did the exact same thing until i put it into a warmer, more humid environment, mine was also under a grow loght and didnt like it, how cold does it get in ur house, and where is it growing?

It doesn’t get too cold, it’s winter here at the moment so the central heating is on, so the house is never really cold. And it was in the windowsill for a while but now it is on a little table that is light but doesn’t get direct sun. I had heard that rubber plants were relatively quick growers, this one is the complete opposite!

They are quick when they are in the right environment, it might need to be getting some more sun, do you fertilize?

I haven’t been fertilising no because it’s in new soil so I didn’t think I’d need to at the moment?

I still fertilize even w/ new soil, i would suggest trying it to see if it does anything, i fertilize with 1/4 of the reccomended dosage every time i water, and mines thriving. I use miracle grow indoor houseplant food, and it says 4 pumps per 32oz so i use 1 pump into an old 16oz plastic water bottle and water that way!

Okay lll give that try. So you wouldn’t recommend cutting off the ‘new’ leaves that haven’t done anything?

Probably just slow growing bc of winter time when plants normally slow down growth. My rubber tree has been the same way. It should pick up again in spring.

mine has grown consistently since I got it. it’s about a foot away from a south window so it gets direct sunlight and it is so happy there!

Okay maybe I’ll try it in more direct sunlight then and see if that helps!
