Hello! I have a Dumb Cane (Dieffenbachia) and recently there have been yellow spots coming out around the leaves and new leaves are curling inwards. The soil is still wet (I water it every Friday) so I don’t know what’s going on :( help please!

Though these plants like regular water and humidity they do not do well with their soil staying wet, it needs to dry out for first inch or so. I’d suggest monitoring it and only watering if it needs it. Also sadly if this was my plant I would cut off any leaves that are spotted or damaged by too much curling…

Thank you for your response! I usually water it every Friday, and by the time that day comes the soil it’s pretty dry, so I’m very confused :( how often do you suggest that I should water it? And should I give it more light or humidity in the environment?

Personally, I use a water meter to gauge when to water. Other experienced planters on here use bamboo skewers to determine when to water. The process is listed on several posts (see PlantyAnn’s posts).

Yes, never water any plant on a schedule. I use a chopstick to check the soil’s moisture. Water meters don’t always work actually but a chopstick will ALWAYS tell you if the soil is wet or not (think a cake test). I would water when at least the top 50% of the soil is dry.
