Help! Something is going on with my striped calathea. I water her when it’s 2/3 dry, have her next to a humidifier, mist her every so often, and have her under shade but near grow light. She’s crispy and turning yellow, I don’t know why! She was doing great not too long ago… here are the recent stages of her. Last ones are of her now

the long stems mean it’s not getting enough light, which i think is what’s causing the over watering symptoms in both these cases

Are you watering with distilled water, rain water, or treated water for this plant? It has a sensitivity to lime so doesn’t do well with tap water.

I was watering it with tap water at first and then read that’s a not good, but I have been watering it with filtered or rain water for the past month or so

When I zoom in here and see lots of white “dots” in the underside of the leaves, it looks like pests…..maybe mealy bugs? Thrips? Thrips are more elongated typically

You can try the neem oil since you have that on hand. You can also use some Dr Bronner’s Castillo soap to create a water soap spray - or I’ve seen people use their sinks as a basin, fill the sink, wrap a plastic bag around the pot, covering the soil and dunk the plant in it. If you don’t mind insecticides, you can buy Dead Bug Brew or Insecticidal Super soap. Be sure to isolate that plant so the pests don’t spread to other plants

theres a saying that the only way to not kill your calathea is not to buy one :( they are notoriously difficult to care for. I think usually their biggest problem is not enough humidity since they're tropical plants they like to be warm and moist. if your house got significantly colder during the winter it could be contributing to that. I've heard people having success with bottom watering calatheas to make sure all of the roots are getting water and not just the top ones!

Thanks so much!! I will move it to a lighter spot and water it with filtered water. Hopefully it will help
