Hi! I’ve had my spanish moss for a couple months, I soak it every week in room temp water and mist it by putting it on my humidifier every 3-4 days. It looks kind of sad, and I’m not sure what to do to make it healthier. Should I trim the brown part? Use filtered water when I soak it and mist it instead of my hard tap water? Get a liquid fertilizer? I’m not sure what to do. I keep it in a glass beaker on my wall (second picture)

Maybe it doesn’t like the confining glass? Spanish moss in the wild just dangles on the oak trees in my neighborhood. Maybe it needs a breathable container? I’m guessing. I don’t know how they get nutrients. Maybe mist the fertilizer too in a spray bottle.

That’s a good idea, I’ll try to find some other way to hang it, just don’t know what. Also not sure what type of liquid fertilizer to use on it

Use air plant fertilizer. There are good reviews on Amazon from people who use it on Spanish moss. This one is $9.95.

I agree with Sunny; the beaker may be too confining. I’m also not sure it needs to be soaked, unless you specifically directed to do that by someone with experience. I think regular light misting and occasional heavy drenching will be better; they grow high enough in the trees that they really never sit in water when they’re in the wild. Does this fellow still turn faintly green when you mist? If so, he should be all right. You can definitely trim the dead bits, but I don’t see anything in your photo that looks like it needs to go. Good luck! Keep us posted!
