new update on my PPP: watched a ton of youtube videos, praying that I took the cutting in the right place, dipped in some candle wax and then rooting powder, and stuck in some water… if she doesn’t take i’ll cry cause it’s one of the last variegated leaves 😭💔 any more advice is very welcomed

I’ve not heard of dipping in candle wax? Would that not prevent it from absorbing the rooting hormone and water?

I thought the same, but apparently it is to prevent the cutting from rotting by sealing the end.

The mother plant will carry the same genes as the these cuttings, as well as leaves that may not show any variegation, so even if this prop doesn’t work, don’t lose hope. Not being variegated doesn’t mean it doesn’t have the mutation, it just it just isn’t being expressed in that particular leaf. *FYI this is based on everything I know about genes, mutations, and gene expression and not on personal plant experience.
