Ive been battling mealy bugs for 6 months, and I cant seem to get them to go away, I live in a very small town and cant really order much online bc im still in high-school so jobs are extremely hard to get, is there anything I can get from places like walmart, tractor supply, etc? Ive been using Neem Oil and Garden Safe insecticidal soap, diluted alcohol spray and repotting the infected, but they just come back and im really at a loss on what to do, i dont want to have to completely restart.

They should have systemic pesticide granules at one of your stores. You mix them into the dirt and water it in. The plant sucks up the insecticide and when the mealybugs eat your plant, they die. It helped me with my curly, twisty Hoya compacta. She had mealies for what felt like a year. I tried all the same things you have but the systemic was what finally worked. Bonide makes one. They may have that at Walmart or TSC

Have you seen this? Imidacloprid is the ingredient that kills the bugs.

be careful with systemic insecticides. most are toxic to humans as well and can be very harmful to your health

You have to treat all plants and pots in the room at the same time or the bugs move to the next untreated plant. Wipe down the entire pot with rubbing alcohol, including the bottom of the pot and the surface areas under and around the pot. Disinfect all tools used on the plants before using them on other plants. You have to disinfect your hands as well to reduce the spread. Treat once a week. It took me almost 3 months to get rid of spider mites and mealybugs I brought in on one plant. I treated the plants and cleaned once a week.

Pests are the worst! 😖 I use a DIY mix I found on a planty video on YouTube. It’s 4 cups water, 1/8 cup of each of peppermint and tea tree oil Castile soap, 1.5 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 cup of alcohol. You can get all at Walmart. I also add Monterey spinosad and 1 tablespoon of rosemary essential oil. You probably can get these at Walmart too. Mix only when ready to use-I have a little half gallon pump sprayer. I got this at Walmart too. Spray down your plant(s) every couple of days until the infestation is gone. I’ve used this on all my plants with no issues. I have Hoyas, calatheas, philodendrons, Alocasia, monsters, syngoniums, and orchids. I also use as a preventative once a month now.
