My mother has a snake plant starter that she’s been working on. Neither she or I are plant experts so I’m not sure if this is normal or if I should be worried. Are these white spots mealy bugs? Any help is appreciated!

nope, not mealies! they are more than likely just cosmetic damage, but watch your plant for decline to make sure it’s not a fungal infection of some sort. side note: mealy bugs are typically bright white and fuzzy. if you’re still not sure about what you’re seeing, take a q-tip soaked in rubbing alcohol and hit those spots with it: if they’re mealy bugs, the spots will sort of disintegrate and turn brown on the q-tip!

Oh my gosh!! I really really really appreciate it!! We were worried 😭. I’ll definitely keep an eye on the plant in case. And thank you for the tip I’ve ready a couple books on mealy bugs and some stuff on the internet but I found it hard to tell if it was mealy bugs. You’re great thank you so much!!

Would the q tip also work for getting rid of them if they occur? Or is there a better way to deal with them?
