Hey yall so this plant child of mine had mealy bugs and after I treated it, it started to shoot out new leaves. The leaves are coming out damaged already along with yellowing of leaves. I havenāt had this plant for long but I fell in love with it when I laid eyes and Iād like to get it back to health if anyone has any tips please lmk thanks! :)
Looking at the ripples in the leaves, it looks like your plant is overwatered. The thinning and yellowing could be from low light.

It definitely needs more light to darken the green colors.
Iām also having trouble with my Diefenbachia of the same variety!! Iām losing yellowing leaves, new leaves are having a hard time unfurling, and leaves are coming out too soft and a bit floppy in spots? Iāve tried moving it to more light, warmer spot, more misting, humidity tray, more AND less watering. I feel like mine is just determined to die on me.

1 gilla Since this pic itās been a sunnier location about a month. Itās in chunky mix (soil, perlite, bark) and I water when top 2 inches are dry. Maybe Iām not watering enough?
Dieffenbachia are tropical plants. They like a chunky mix. Consistent watering and bright light. They are very hardy and resilient. If there is a problem itās usually because itās not being given one of those 3 things. I have this plant and have her in a south facing window and she was fine. Any time Iād ever have problems was because I wasnāt giving her enough water. (Meaning water until the water comes out of the bottom. But sheās huge and I was being lazy and didnāt feel like taking her to the bathroom lol)
Wow beautiful!!! Itās probably the lighting since itās under a grow light! Iāll definitely move her to a spot with some natural light thank you!

1 gilla It actually looks pretty great! Your soil mix looks Amazing! Super airy and I imagine, fast draining. You have the pot sitting on a tray so I assume the pot has drainage holes. Your not letting it go bone dry before watering. And itās pushing out new growth. Looks like youāre doing all the things. All plants will naturally lose their bottom leaves/the older leaves over time. Just make sure you are watering thoroughly, like until you see the water coming out of the bottom of the pot. Also way direction is the window facing? Are you rotating the pot weekly/when you water. If you notice the two canes have a yellow leaf on the same side. Ironically the side not facing the window. I watched this video on YouTube once that explained bright indirect light. The person explained it like thisā¦try to see the light from the perspective of the plant. Like literally sit or kneel on the floor to see what the plant sees. From that perspective one cane is getting an almost full view of the sky. While the other cane is seeing half sky and half wall. Notice that the latter is also the cane with the smaller leaves. Super long winded, I know. Lol but I Hope something in there was helpful. Good luck! Youāre doing great!
