My poor ficus is struggling. Its leaves are yellowing and some have brown spots. Under the leaves are faded. We keep it near an east-facing window. Does anyone have any tips on what’s going on w it or what the right conditions are for it?

yellowing leaves are usually a sign of a watering issue. does your pot have drainage holes? what’s the soil like? how often do you water?

The pot does have drainage holes and a tray and I water it once a week. The water runs thru the soil pretty quickly so I feel like it might be easy to over water. I did just move it to under a grow light so maybe it’s just shocked?

if the water runs through the soil that quickly, it might be time to change up the soil. and once a week seems like WAY too much water for a ficus. they like their soil to be 100% dry before watering again. check the soil each time before you water by sticking a chopstick all the way into the pot. if the entire chopstick comes out dry, it’s time to water. if there is any soil on the chopstick, wait to water. overwatering has to do with the frequency of watering (how often you’re watering) and not the amount of water you use each time you water. ficus love a lot of light so keeping under a grow light is perfect.
