I just purchased this Canary Island Date Palm tree and when repotting discovered an ant colony living throughout its roots, any suggestions on how to rid it of these ants?

I so badly want to say an aardvark because my head lives in a cartoon world. But couldn’t you easily flood them out of a pot?

Repot it again, spray down the roots really good with a hose. I’d then spray the roots with insecticidal soap and neem (ants don’t eat the plant I believe but it’ll make them unhappy). Mix in systemic granules and mosquito bits into the new soil. I’d think that’ll kill off any remaining pretty effectively.
0 J'aimeAnt granules/powder! Sprinkle it on top of the nest per package directions. Wait about a day. The ants sees it as food carrying it into the mound. Kills the entire colony. I live around fire ants. This works on them. The granules have a strong smell to deter children and pets from eating it. You may have to change out the soil to clear out all of the scent.
