Help!! I have 4 houseplants that are suffering and idk how to help. They are all in the same area so I’m assuming that’s why they’re all affected. I first noticed my monstera adansonii had new leaves that would turn brown before they opened. I thought it was an issue with soil being wet, and after I repotted it in terracotta it seemed to improve. But then I found leaves that looked brown and like they had been eaten, but no visible signs of bugs. Then the leaf on my alocasia zebra started dying and I thought it was growing a new leaf and shedding the old one, but the new leaf hasn’t come and I saw a mealy bug on there. I hosed off all the plants in the area and treated them with neem oil, and repeated the process a week later. Now here I am a week later and I still see small mealy bugs on the zebrina, and all of the other plants in the area now have these brown rust spots. Is it rust? Or is it related to the bugs? I’ve only seen the mealy bugs on the zebrina, and can’t see anything else on the others. I don’t want to lose these plants!

I’d use a fungicide that also kills bugs and follow the directions about retreating the plants for up to three weeks afterwards. I had brown spot on some bonsai I rescued, and the fungicide did the trick. It wasn’t organic, though—some heavy duty chemical stuff. But it didn’t harm the plants at all. I just had to treat them in a well ventilated place. Let us know how it goes. 💚

I’ll have to invest in a fungicide. Thank you!

I’ve also heard that there are root mealy bugs. So if they continue to get worse, you might want to check the roots. 🤔
