What in the WORLD. So this happened to my dieffenbachia a few months ago so I chopped her head off and stuck her in water to save her. And let me tell you, she THRIVED in water. She grew her roots back so I repotted her. Now she is dying again. Part of me just wants to keep her in water because it seems thatās the only way she will be happy. Any thoughts??
What kind of soil are you using? This plant thrives in a well draining soil mix. Are you using distilled water or rain water? And does your pot have holes?
0 Likes Regular mix w extra perlite. The pot does have drainage holes. And Iāve just been using tap water. She lived with no complaints in the tap
0 Likes Hmm, it could still be in shock from being repotted. But, in case it is the water, Iāve read that Dieffenbachia can be sensitive to fluoride and chlorine, which can be found in tap water. Maybe swapping to distilled or rainwater may help. You can also try tap water, but allow the water to sit for over 24 hours prior to watering your plant.

Pot seems too large and they donāt do well in terracotta - the wet period is too short. Also, if you had it in a water for a long time and moved it into a pot, sometimes if itās acclimated to water, it struggles going into a pot that dries faster.

0 LikesHave you given any thought about putting your plant in a clear container so the roots can have some light. Iāve used glass when rooting and maybe a little rooting hormone
