I just bought this Lipstick plant last week and she was looking so healthy. In the past few days she’s been dropping leaves and looking a little wilty in areas. I want to keep her healthy! Help!

Can we have some more info? What kind of light is she getting, is her soil dry or wet, does she have drainage? Over or under watering can cause wilting, so I’d probably check the soil first!
いいね 1件Thank you! She’s hanging in a north facing window. I live in Minnesota so it’s cold and dry here. I have a humidifier that I run almost once a day. I haven’t repotted her since I got her so unsure of soil. I watered last Thursday and felt soil today and it was dry. I watered again and water came out the drainage holes fairly quickly.

Thanks for the info! She may need repotted. If the water just flows right through then she can’t really retain it. She might be root bound as well, but I’m not sure if lipstick plants like that or not. Either way, being root bound might also contribute to the inability to absorb. Repotting also gives you a chance to observe her roots to check for root rot, but I’m not sure if that’s the issue here. Most of my new plants really start to thrive once I repot them! My favorite pots are terracotta or glazed ceramic (ideally without glaze on the inside of the pot) but may not be the best if you tend to overwater since terracotta absorbs water. I know that’s a lot of info but hope it’s helpful!

Happy to offer a bit of insight! If you read more about your specific plant on planta, it gives some more insight on soil types to use as well!
