I have a golden jewel orchid and hadn’t noticed the small looks like eating marks before, but when looking at older pictures they might have been there. Today the one leaf with all the holes in my hand fell off. I don’t “see” any pests, but notice some white stuff on the one leaf in the photo. What do you all think? I’ve read this type of orchid is different than the typical orchid for watering, but any help would be appreciated. She sits in a north window. Oh - and I noticed today that there is a root coming out of the bottom of the catch pot. Should I repot?

That white stain on your leaf should be able to be wiped off with a wet cloth. If the rest of your plant looks fine and doesn’t have any signs of pests, then that could just be an older leaf. It is odd that it would have all of those bite marks on it, but I’m sure it’s not a problem. Over time, you should check to see if there are any more of those marks developing. If so, you should see if there’s a bug hiding in the soil or something.

You could repot to a wider pot, these orchids like to crawl so it’s common for them to pop back up from the soil with new growth. In my experience these are pretty resilient and will grow to whatever size pot you give them without much fuss.
