i thought it was humidity at first so have been moving in and out of the bathroom& misting and pruning to help but i think the problem is being caused by the white spots

Humidity issues definitely contribute to the drying/ crisping tips. The dots in my opinion look more like mealy bugs because they are white. Do you ever see them crawling? If they are completely immobile then I could be scale. Also- no matter what infestation you have to start I’d isolate it, give it a shower, and treat it with neem oil or another all-around insecticide!

These look like aphids. I had them on my gardenia. Wipe down with Dr Bronner’s Castile peppermint soap then spray with neem oil twice a week. You might have to treat a few times before they’re gone
