Hi there, this succulent I got about four months ago is looking kind of strange. I repotted it two weeks ago and haven’t watered it yet. I was about to today and just noticed these two leaves that look discolored and shriveled. The plant itself is also kind of loose in the pot, as in, I can pick the plant up out of the soil. The plant also wasn’t pink in the center when I first got it. I’ve included a picture of the leaves that look weird. I don’t know if I should water the plant? It’s been 2 weeks since I last watered, since the repot. The heater has been on and off in my apt .

It’s normal for succulents to get pink around the edges, that just means it’s in a sunny spot. It’s called sun stress but it’s not actually stressing the plant it’s just referring to the plant turning colors from the sun. It’s also normal for succulents to have shallow root systems and for older leaves on succulents to dry up and die off sometimes. However, it looks like it’s in a pot that doesn’t have drainage so the shriveled leaves and being able to pick it up out of the soil could also be a sign that it’s getting water logged from no drainage. Succulents grow best in pots that have drainage and well draining soil. That being said I have grown some in pots with no drainage and you have to be very careful when watering them. They don’t need to be watered as much and when you do water you don’t need to give them as much water because you don’t want to saturate the soil. I use a moisture meter to make sure the soil is 100% dry before I water and they usually only need water about 1x a month. That can change depending on how dry your house is so it’s best to check the soil regularly to figure out how often yours needs to be watered. If you don’t have a moisture meter you can use a chopstick to check that the soil is dry before you water.

The pot does have a hole at the bottom, so there definitely is drainage. Do you think that the one hole isn’t enough. Also, I haven’t watered the plant since it was repotted!

One whole should be enough drainage. It looks kind of deep tho so I would just make sure it’s at the bottom before you water again. Succulents are desert plants so it’s not unusual for them to go 30 days without needing water especially this time of year. It could also be a. It if shock from transplanting it.

Also there’s a little white fuzzy thing on one of your leaves in the picture so you might want to check to make sure that’s not a mealy bug. If it is a mealy bug it could also be causing the shriveled leaves in which case you need to treat with insecticidal soap and/or neem oil. I alternate them every 2-4 days when I’m treating for pests.

Mealy bugs look like little white pieces of fuzz. I can’t tell if that’s what’s in your picture or not but that’s what your looking for. There are tons of pictures and articles online if you google them.
