Hi! This is my lemon tree, John Lemon. My friend grew it from seed and gave it to me some time ago. In the past year and half or so, it has seen quite a bit of new growth and has seemed generally happy. However, recently I noticed some strange spiky growths on its nodes. I’ve never seen this before and am unsure if I should be concerned and/or if there is anything I should be doing about it. Has anyone seen this before? What do you think it could be? Additionally, some parts of the veins on a few of its leaves seem to have turned whitish. Any tips are welcome! An additional tidbit: sometime just before I noticed the growths, I gave it a fresh dose of fertilizer (composted alpaca poopoo). I used this fertilizer on other plants of mine as well and did not notice any weirdness happening. in fact, I also have a young meyer lemon tree that I grew from seed this year that was fertilized on the same day with the same fertilizer and it seems fine.

lol I love your plants name. I worked at a grocery store and used to tell this joke I made, “what’s the Beatles favorite fruit?” My joke always ended with a, “Baaa naaa naa nananana” but one day I asked a customer and they looked at me and asked, “John Lemon?”

Doesn’t look concerning to me, likely budding growth points. Unless the plant seems to be in decline, treat it as usual.

Also leaf vein coloring can change due to herbicides or fertilizers.
