Is it an albo variegata or a syngonium aurea? Did it arrive with roots or did you buy a cutting? The dry leaf edges and limp stems can happen from the stress of shipping. It’s exaggerated with cuttings that lack water during transportation. It’s common to lose a leaf or two on a syngonium cutting. The spots on the stems could be scars from previous damage. Check if they scrape off to verify they are not scales insects. I recommend you propagate in a wider container if using soil. Syngonium roots grow out within 1 to 2 weeks especially when using rooting hormone powder and plant vitamins (SuperThrive).

I was told it was a syngonium albo, it had small roots, not fully rooted. Ok I will move it to a larger container! Whatever is on it did scrape off if I used my nail.

I’m assuming no insects underneath the spots. Then, it might just be scar tissue.

Syngonium albo variegata is one of my favorite arrowheads. The markings are beautiful and unpredictable. They act more like a ground cover fit for a hanging basket the way the vines dangle over the edge of a pot. Plus, they are low maintenance once the roots are established. Two of mine are still in the 3 inch nursery pots. They require daily watering, now. So, I will put them together in an 8 inch pot. I’ve done this already with my first two and they are doing well. Plus, I don’t have to water them everyday. The vines in the picture are about 1.5 feet and hang over the edge of the little starter pot. I have it propped up to keep it from falling off the chair.
