Hey everyone! I’m brand new to being able to keep plants alive. Thanks to this app I’ve actually had some plants for over a year!!! Now my question. Why do my plants start dying if they aren’t directly in a window? I have golden pothos that a girl at work has in the corner not near a window and hers is growing beautifully. I put mine in my living room away from windows but still having natural light and it lost soooo many leaves. Now it’s in my window again and it’s flourishing! But I don’t want all of my plants in the window, I would like to be able to spread them out. Help!!

It’s still possible to under or over water a plant while still abiding by the schedule. Specifically if the soil substrate you’re using retains more water it may end up getting root rot, or of the plant gets more sun or is in a warmer environment, such as near a heater, it may dry out quicker and be underwatered. Unfortunately Planta doesn’t tell us exactly the correct amount of water to use. I have found if I follow the schedule perfectly, it can often result in my overwatering certain plants. It often says to water until water runs out of the bottom, and if I do that, when I go back to water my jade for example, the soil is never dry, which it should be before watering jade again. Thus I have to snooze that task. Simply watering whenever Planta says to water isn’t a sure fire way to make all plants happy or alive.

I’ve had to find a balance,,, checking soil for dampness, wondering what works better here for there, but 3 years later and mine are still doing good. It’s a whole job keeping my over 92 indoor babies happy!! I do use grow lights and water when needed and also use a spray bottle every couple days. Another tip is to make sure to are rotating your plants your plants
