What should I do with my monstera? I'm getting quite a few yellowing leaves, all seem to be newer growth close to the bottom. And SO MANY of these roots reaching out (I can't recall the proper term) what should i be doing next to help it thrive? I currently water & fertilize and I don't do much else. Thanks 😊

I would cut under the arial roots/nodes and propagate in water. It seems kind of cramped, though I would repot due to the fact the the air roots may get in the way.

Thank you! I've been feeling a repot is due but nervous because it'll be my first time repotting a plant this big!

Don’t be afraid! Just cut an inch or two below a node and put it in water. Refresh the water every few days!

Agree. Don’t be afraid to cut aerial roots to propagate in water. Just leave a little root and in water it will grow water roots.

Don’t cut the roots off!!! They will turn into more roots if you propagate with them. But this seems rly overgrown. Maybe time for a repot. Check the in pot roots!

Monstera also like to climb. If you repot do so with a wooden plank at it’s back (where the roots come out) and tie it to it if needed to help it get started.

I've heard but to do anything to do the roots but also read so much about other things you can do... It can be a bit confusing and I'm afraid of hurting the plant! Definitely need to repot and I've been watching videos about how to do that properly

I’m not sure why people suggest cutting things off of a plant that isn’t sick to make it healthier or anything like that. Those arial roots dig back into the soil and if you redirect them back into the pot they serve as more support for the plant to stand (they crawl across the floor to find trees to climb this is why I suggest a plank not a moss pole. Check out kill this plant on YouTube.) along with being more roots for the plant to absorb things with.

If you want to propagate it into multiple plants cut it and root the cutting in water. I personally love bushy big monsteras so I would repot this one and tuck all the arial roots into the new pot and let it keep growing!
