Anyone have a clue what might be going on with my peace lily? Top leaves are fine, just the bottom ones are yellowing. Help!

Overwatered? I’d just remove those leaves.. the rest looks great!

I’m hoping that’s all it is, they turned yellow almost immediately after I watered it for the first time in 2 weeks. It is my first peace lily so just wasn’t sure if that’s normal! Thank you!

    Does the pot have drainage?

Mine kept doing this too after watering I put it outside during the summer and told it to walk it off or get thrown out. ( lol). Seriously tho, it wasn’t overwatered and I had changed out the soil previous. It did wonderful outside. I brought it inside again, same scenario. So now wondering if nitrogen deficiency. Gave it fertilizer and monitoring

Huh, that’s so interesting! What fertilizer did you use?

I got it at the local nursery and I will check what kind it is to let you know. Some others commented on root rot and it is a good idea to see if your roots are healthy/ viable and not mushy. I had a very healthy root base on my plant and so it did not make sense that leaves were yellowing Not just old leaves, but newer ones. This is why my direction changed after research online to see if mineral deficiency was involved. I am still monitoring to see if I get more yellow leaves

Mine did the same thing and all I was able to save was 3 leaves with a few good roots the rest rotted off. I’ve had this plant for 20 years. So sad. She’s in water now with no soil but haven’t seen any new roots and it’s been a month!

How did you check for root rot?

you’d have to take the dirt out of the roots to inspect. healthy roots are thick, firm, and white. root rot will make your roots brown and soggy.
