MiaHow old is the soil? If it's old it might have turned hydrophobic (repels water) so maybe try a soil change

the soil is still relatively new

Pliny the ElderPeperomia ferreyrae don’t like to completely dry out and that soil looks bone dry and hydrophobic

I would still recommend changing the soil even if it's newer as it really doesn't look right.
