Leaf miners? Thrips? Can someone please help me identify what is causing this damage. I’m usually fanatical about pest inspection, but my friend gave me these cuttings off a plant she had for a long time, so I wasn’t as careful. When I try to scrape off the little white things (for example on the third picture’s leaf), I can’t get them off or see them move. I just treated it with bonide systemic granules and soaked in captain jacks dead bug brew.

Thrips have eaten the top layer of the leaves. I’ve never used the two products you mentioned. So, I don’t know their effectiveness on thrips. I use soapy dishwater spray on my pots and plants each week until I see no further damage or live insects. Neem oil is also effective. I suggest you do nothing further until you see if the products you used are working per their directions .

Does this work for fungus gnats too?

@Tellie I’m not sure, but I know a lot of people make mosquito dunk “tea” and then water the plant

Captain jack’s and bonide granules are what I would do too, good luck!

Thanks. How often do you use the dead bug brew? I’ve read conflicting things

Depends on how bad the infestation is! Once every two weeks but I haven’t had bad pests problems so maybe once a week?
