This is really gross! There are loads of tiny bugs on my fern plant and I don’t know how to get rid of them. Any ideas?

I’d start with a soap water spray, since it’s common household stuff you can probably try quickly. And maybe get some neem oil spray to try? Good luck!

It might be difficult to get spray mist in between the fronds. You could try knocking the bugs off with spray from a hose and dunking the plant in a bucket of soapy dish water. Repeat weekly if they return after eggs hatch.

They are black aphids. This is the insect to pick if you had a choice! They can typically be knocked off with the spray of a garden hose. They are also farmed by ants on plants. So, watch for ants. The aphids secrete a sticky ‘honeydew’ on the plant that the ants eat.
