Are beneficial nematodes an option for you? You can also top dress your soil with Leca, pearlite, rocks or sand. Gnats don’t like to crawl around in the stuff

ughhh fungus gnats are the absolute bane of my existence. if the Bonide Systemic granules mentioned don’t work, the only thing that has worked for me was to completely dry out all of my plants, then strip them of all soil, wash out their respective pots with a very diluted bleach solution, make sure that was rinsed out very thoroughly, then let those naked roots sit in a root booster or plant food bath for about 15 minutes before i repotted my plants with brand new soil (kept in either a cold garage or a freezer for a few days prior to eliminate any potential pests in the new bags but make sure to let it reach room temperature to not shock the plants anymore than this entire process already has) then keep them all isolated from anything that could possibly have any other pests for about two weeks and bottom water them above all else. it was an absolute nightmare of a task and i was terrified i’d killed my babies multiple times but so far it’s kept them healthy and gnat free, i very well could’ve just gotten very lucky though.

I had a gnat infestation recently. Tried everything - neem oil, peroxide, insecticide, not to mention all the sticky traps and plugged in ones. Nothing worked. They seemed to just come out of nowhere, non-stop. In the end, i realised there were a few plants that had the most gnats and decided to repot them. That’s how i found out one of the soils I used was the cause. Once I removed the soil (from the plant, as well as throw the bag I still had with remaining soil of that kind), almost all gnats were gone instantly 😮. I couldn’t believe it haha. Try to find the source. Fingers crossed!!

if you still remember, what soil was it that you were using before? i wonder if that’s part of the cause as well? but i tried repotting some that had gnat infestation but they always come back, maybe it’s because im putting it back w my other plants that may have gnats? i’m not sure but it’s pushing me to the point to repot all my plants and put a bunch of systemic granules. everytime i try to find the one plant that has gnats, i see every single one has them crawling around. it’s never ending and they’re so annoying

I don’t use Miracle Gro standard mix with indoor plants. Too many hitchhikers especially if the bag has holes and got wet at the store.

The one that caused it for me was a tree and shrubs soil from Miracle Gro. I use other soils from them with no problems, so not sure what happened with this one. If you still have soil bags, try opening them up to see if they have gnats. That’s how I was sure it was the cause in the end, when I opened the bag to repot the infested plant šŸ˜…. I know exactly how you mean with them spreading to other plants, it seemed impossible to figure out which was which, but in time I started moving the ones that seemed ā€˜more’ infested to another side of the room until it became more obvious. Hope this helps. It was a horrible experience 🫠

This has been the only thing that has worked for me. Just one drop in a gallon of water and it will kill the eggs in the soil so at first you will see some still flying around hit within a few days they’re all gone it’s a miracle product. I use it every other watering for prevention but if I have an issue, I would use it each watering until clear.
