My plant was inside a decorative planter. It was still in its original gardener’s pot. When I watered it, I picked it up to drain any excess water as I noticed it got beyond its saucer. Beneath the saucer, I noticed these larva(?). What is it and why was it inside a decorative planter under the planter saucer? I immediately repotted my plant, rinsed it, and sprayed its roots with Neem oil. But I didn’t see any bugs/larva in the soil.

There were eggs in your soil. Meaning you had an infestation. It happens. They are harmless.
