Help. Ants! Really though, I have ants in the soil of my fiddle leaf fig. It’s time to bring it inside for the season from my porch and I’m not sure what to do about them. They are 100% little black “sugar ants” (idk if that’s the real name, it’s what we’ve always called them). They aren’t hurting the plant, but I can’t bring them in. Would DE potentially work sprinkled on top of the soil? I’m financially in a tough spot so I’d prefer not to change the soil unless I must.

I’ve read that DE does work on ants but I haven’t used it yet. I have tried sprinkling cinnamon as well but again not sure if it’s foolproof. Cinnamon won’t kill them tho, it’s a deterrent so you could try that before bringing your planty in? 🤷🏻‍♀️

If possible, change the soil and run it with water- LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
