hi y’all! so about a year and a half ago i got a clipping of a spider plant from my teacher and it was pretty small then. since then it’s grown pretty well, but it hasn’t gotten that distinctive stripe that i know should be on the leaves. i water it regularly, keep it in my windowsill, repotted it about two months ago, and have only used liquid fertilizer once. i also have a few burnt edges :// is this normal or should i do something? if yes, then what should i do? thanks!

Spider plants like higher humidity, warmer temperatures, bright indirect light, and regular fertilizer during the warmer months. The dry tips can be too much or too little water. It can also be low humidity. It’s hard to tell from pictures. I recommend you ensure the soil has good drainage. Spider plants have thick finger like roots that store water. They don’t need a soil storing water too long. A succulent mix with standard potting mix is what I use. I let the plants almost dry out before watering again. Timed release fertilizer granules works for me.

Loss of the white stripe can be too little fertilizer, too low light, the color reverting or just poor health of the plant. The plant looks fine. So, it’s one of the first three. I’ve had a variegated spider plant go to all green after it planted itself behind my air conditioner units. I recommend the timed release fertilizer and getting the plant more light. Six to eight hours of bright light in the warmer months is needed. Good luck. 🍀
