Plant looks like overwatered and underwatered at the same time 😥 My Bird of Paradise started getting yellow edges which seems like a sign of overwatering. However, it has curling leaves as well, which is a sign of underwatering. I water it once a week when the top soil level is dry and set up a humidifier a couple of times a week. Any ideas why it behaves this way and how can I improve it?

Curling can be due to a lot of different factors I’ve read. Trying to get mine to flatten out too! But the drooping and yellow edges of yours makes me thing overwater for sure. I only water mine when it’s just barely moist still and so far that seems to be good

Thank you! I’ll try to water mine less often and gonna see if things will improve 🤞

This could be a cause of a lot of things, you seem to be well aware of the watering so try these other solutions such as room temperature, light exposure, soil density, root boundaries, and fertilizer. See if anything of those are an issue. If that’s not the case then recheck your watering habits. If you fertilize frequently then it can cause the plant to do this as well. Sometimes it happens out of habit, you can’t be perfect but those would be the underlying issues than can cause this.

Thank you for such a profound response! I haven’t moved the plant, so the light should be an issue. I guess it might react to the temperature and humidity change due to the beginning of cold autumn weather. I have reported it recently since it was root bound (and I expected the plant to feel better, not the opposite). I’ll change the water schedule to less frequent and will hope things will improve!

I haven’t fertilized it for a while, so I guess over-fertilization is not an issue, but I’ll keep in mind type of issue as well.
