Evil Plant Dad

Multiple questions here. 1.I first posted about my princesses excessive crying, but I found this “water blister” today. Is this just too much water? I waited 12days between waterings. Im losing leaves pretty fast.. all are too wet.. but I even used a hygrometer when it read 2 “dry”. Or is this maybe a disease? 2. I added grow lights to try to speed up the plants ability to dry the soil, because I initially thought it was taking too long for the plant to dry out and that’s what was hurting the leaves. The final picture are my new leaves.. they’re kind of brown.. definitely not green.. do they get greener with age or is something just horribly wrong with my plant? 3. Can philodendron handle getting super dry? Should I wait till it’s down to a 1? I don’t know what’s wrong with this little plant but she’s def being a princess

  1. Dreams of Green

My philodendrons like to dry out. I try to water them once a week when soil is dry, also have them in terra cotta pots. But I have let them go longer. Also good luck with your drama princess. I have a Calathea that throws fits all the time.

Thank you! Surprisingly my Calatheas behave, this is my only drama queen 😂

I’ve never come across leaves bubbling before but your 2 new leaves will become greener once they’ve finished “hardening” (other than the right hand side damage to both) think butterfly wings coming out of a chrysalis, it takes a little while for them to fully unfold and harden. Good luck! Fellow thriving calatheas, dramatic PP club member đŸ«Ą

Too much water. I’d let it dry out! I sadly unalived my PPP by not waiting til it was completely dry

Oh please don’t water on a schedule and don’t use a water meter too. They aren’t accurate at all! I water my PPP when about 3/4 is dry. They will rot quickly if you water them too much. The colour of PPP leaves has to do with genetics and there isn’t much you can do about that. Granted a little more indirect light will help (or a grow light, sure) but it won’t make new leaves be more green or pink. New leaves will get a little more green as they mature but it is what it is. Is that blister really filled with water? If not, it might a little burn from the grow light.

Yep, I popped it and water came out. Happened on another since then too
