Recently purchased this plant and planter from someone on FB marketplace. The photos suggested it was beautiful and thriving - got it home and it was quickly determined that was not the case. I’m afraid it got too hot in my car during transport as the leaves looked a little wilted when I got it to my house. I quickly tried to research and react to adjust it to its new home. It’s been down hill ever since. I had to completely remove a branch that was totally curled up and appears dead. I didn’t want that to steal from some of these other leaves that still look like there may be a chance. Then some leaves have just started dropping off and I just got home to a few others on the floor. I’m discouraged. It feels like a big waste of money and I’m hoping some of you can tell me if this is salvageable or not. I’m afraid it’s a little too far gone but I’m really not sure. I have a smaller one that I’ve had for awhile and although it’s grown slow, she’s beautiful. Please help 💚 Also please note I’ve had this for one week 🥲

Once a fiddle leaf fig’s leaves drop new leaves dont grow back in their place. They only grow from the top of the stem. When this happened to me I chopped it all the way down. Leave a few inches of the stem left and as long as there is white sap that starts to flow when it is cut, it *should* start branching off. It is slow growing but it has been almost a year since I did it to mine and it is very healthy and growing! (Also i found that my fiddle really likes orchid potting mix! They don’t like to sot in wet soil so it helps keep the air flowing)

Thank you so so much!! Yeah part of me feels like a chop might have to be the route I go. It was such a big tall tree and idk how it went downhill so fast. I feel like maybe the other owner knew it was getting bad and just sold it to get rid of it. My loss! Lol shall see how it pans out. I appreciate it!

Update: I took your advice above and just kept cutting down the branch until I saw the white sap start to come out. Maybe potential?! She looks ridiculous now but honestly if she was to start sprouting leaves where I cut her, that would have been my preference anyway as she looked leggy when I got her. Fingers crossed I can keep an eye on her and see what happens next. Remaining hopeful 🙂
