Hi everyone! I’m a young plant parent and beyond watering and asking my plants to be okay please, I’m fairly useless! My aloe vera has a yellow and pungent inner sap part (i think it’s called mucilage). It’s much bigger than any aloe vera i’ve had in the past so wondering if it’s due to it being a particular variety? The mucilage is yellow and smells very unpleasant, and is stickier than my other aloes’ were. Does she have a disease or is just a different variety? Thank you x

it’s probably aloe massawana, it’s often mislabeled as aloe vera. i recommend looking up both species on llifle, it provides descriptions of both species so you can tell the difference better

I’ve had a look and I think you’re right! It was gifted to me as a pup from my godmother’s plant so I’ve sent her a message to let her know too! I had no idea about this so thank you very much! :D
