Anyone know what this bug like thing is? Round, brownish reddish, seems to live inside the fern (??)

    It’s a beetle if you can see the segmented head and wings. It’s probably scale, if it looks like a turtle’s back or armor. Scales will quickly colonize. So, isolate the plant and treat repeatedly with insecticidal soap (Dawn dishwashing liquid and water) or neem oil.
