My recently adopted zzz plant has yellow and brown leaves. I think I overwatered it. What can I do? Thanks for your help

Def appears as a condition issue id suggest reading up on basic requirements like humidity and light also make sure proper soil and is able to drain water and also retain enough moisture if you find yourself not lining up with Planta reminders by a day or few past the initial reminder id suggest looking into soil and repotting plants these are drought resistant so they don’t need a lot of water so I’d recommend bottom watering as that allows the soil and plant to figure out what it wants to have then after it drains out for an hour or so it’s fine to go back where it goes I wouldn’t recommend watering it the day Planta tells you to water id go a day or two past since this is more drought tolerant you shouldn’t see moist soil by the time it needs water again which on average is about 1 every 2 weeks

ZZ plants don’t need a lot of water you get it honestly wait to your soil is completely dry to feed them again they have a little potato like nodes, under the soil, that stores water and if you water your plant too much those knows that store water will get mushy and start to rot. I have two of them and I watered them probably once every two months and they are constantly putting out new buds

All of the bright green just pushed up within the last couple of months hold off on your watering and see how she does

When the app says to water it, I take a knitting needle and push it into the soil all the way to the bottom of the pot and then remove it. If it comes up clean, it’s ready for water. If not, then no water. Similar to the toothpick test when baking cakes.

I typically water my ZZ every other time planta’s care schedule suggests it. I’d say hold off on watering and water less when it’s back to good shape.

I almost killed my zz plant by overwatering. The new growth kept coming in yellow and would pull right out of the soil. I just stopped watering for a while and let it dry out 100% and she’s made a miraculous recovery!

Hey 👋 I have one as well. Was wondering 🤔 how much light does it need? Can I place directly at the window?
