hi!! my sensitive plant (mimosa pudica) has leaves that have started to become a mottled yellow color over the past few weeks. i’ve had it for a while now and this is a newer issue. it is in a west facing window that gets 6-7 hours of bright, filtered, indirect sunlight and i only water it when the top soil dries out. does anyone know why this could be happening and how to fix it?

My bet could be humidity issues right now I think since we are so close to a border of a season change a lot of plants are going through a weird phase and transition readying up for the next season so it could be that as well but I’d start with humidity and go from there down the list

How long approximately have you had it and had it ever been repotted in your care? I’ve had this happen out of no where on plants I hadn’t reported after purchasing and sometimes the roots are wrapped, have a rubber and around them, have a plastic mesh around them, whatever from when the store received it from the farm. Also it could just have a ton of roots. Either way, if it doesn’t resolve shortly, I would repot!

I’ve had it for a little over a month and I repotted it when I got it. i might just take it out of the pot to look at the roots and make sure it doesn’t need to be reported again. thank you!! <3

I had this type of plant before and found that they do not last very long, especially indoors and in a pot. Hopefully you’ll have more success! Leaves don’t live forever, so a few leaves yellowing and dying could just be normal part of its life cycle. Overall, your plant looks wonderful!

thank you so much!! i’m hoping it’s just losing old growth or throwing a fit about the weather 🥲

Mine does the same thing and I’ve had it for a year now, they just have a short life cycle in a pot, you can always prune back a little if they start getting to leggy. Increasing humidity does help a lot!

honestly I’m not sure! I think it natural sheds it’s leaves regularly to make room for new growth, but as long new shoots are coming out the plant still looks super cool!
