Hello fellow green thumbs 🥰 I’m curious to know what everyone does in the winter to keep their plants nice and healthy? This will be my first year going into the winter months with this many plants (11) and i really want to try and keep them all beautiful and healthy. Any tips, tricks, or suggestions?! -TIA 😊

plants get rearranged as the sun moves, in october usually. my plants that do well in north-facing windows are moved to east- or west-facing windows, and everyone else gets moved a little closer if they weren’t already in the window. my succulents end up etiolated every winter even in southern exposure so i am considering getting a grow light for them this year. other than that, the humidifier goes on high and i pray everyone survives the winter 🤞🏻

i am in a fairly northern area so take this with a grain of salt, especially if you live somewhere with a mild winter

Thank you! So all of my plants are currently in an east facing window and they have grow lights that i use on cloudy days. I probably need to add a humidifier for sure. Ive been so worried that ive looked on amazon for an indoor grow house 🤭 i just want everyone to make it through the cold months 😂

no problem. if you already have grow lights your plants will almost certainly be fine overwinter, lack of light is the biggest issue usually

BRING THEM INSIDE. My mom and I own a ton of plants, and our money trees and hibiscus thrive a ton outside. They love the heat. But when that one cold day hits, they all freeze and cripple up. Nothing exciting, we just bring them all in. Benjamin the money tree is so sad during the winter because he can’t go outside😢

Oh, they all have always lived inside inside.

I just follow instructions in Planta. I have 112 plants and have had them in Planta almost two years and they do great! But I do use a good amount of artificial light throughout the year. Some of my plants never go dormant and continue to grow year round.
