anyone know what this fluffy/powdery stuff is at the base of my aloe? it's only in these crevices and i dont see any insects or movement. it brushes off easily and isn't clinging to the plant at all, even blowing on it gently blows it away. i've also been very careful while watering not to get any on the plant itself bc i've been worried about mold, rot etc!

Looks like mealy bug to me too. A good way to tell is to dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and go over the fuzzy areas. If you see any red on the swab then you do have mealies. If you do have mealies, quarantine the plant immediately. They can spread quickly. You can continue to treat with alcohol. It kills them on contact and the treatment should not harm your plant. You’ll have to be thorough. They like to hide in the crevices and underside of the leaves. The down side is it will remove the glaucous.

that's what i thought at first, but i've had mealies before on past plants and this didn't match up on closer inspection (pic was late at night and hard to tell i know haha). i cleaned it up last night and it was almost like a feathery, slightly wet ash? no blood when i rubbed it between my fingers, just white to grey flecks. i think it was some kind of mold maybe? 🤔 after wiping with alcohol i sprayed some neem deep into the crevices

Wild. Sounds like you have it covered, whatever it is. Good luck!
