Anyone have an effective way to get rid of fungus gnats? Does sticky tape actually work? Is there anything I can put in the soil to stop them laying eggs? What about a carnivorous plant?

1/4 dilution of hydrogen peroxide. So in a gallon of water it would be a quart of h2o2. Water the plants with that. It will kill all of what is in the soil. For what is flying maybe fly tape or traps?

You can use a bti product like mosquito bits that you soak in water and then water your plants with that. Or there’s ecological labs AEL20036 microbe lift mosquito control. This is a product that is already liquid so you don’t have to soak the mosquito bits. Use 1 drop for each 1-5 gallons. Bti is specifically formulated to target fungus gnats and mosquitos :)

Carnivorous plants are also great! But you would want a high quality grow light or a southern window. And you only water with distilled water. For more info on them, go to the carnivorous plant group! Some people are experts.

Or you can always try cinnamon. This sound gimmicky but cinnamon is antifungal so it kills off the fungus in your soil, which is the food source for the gnats. This is the cheapest option for sure but maybe not 100% success rate.

I’ve heard people swear by beneficial nematodes. I’m trying that soon. Mosquito dunks work too but it’s not 100% effective.
