Hey everyone! I am a fairly new plant parent and I think I have a pest problem starting. I have teeny tiny flys around my plants, i was thinking they were just flys from outside where it is summer but now i'm not so sure. i'm wondering what they are and how to get rid of them, thanks

Sounds like fungus gnats, I’m dealing with them right now. I use neem oil and spray it on the bottom of the pot where the drainage holes are and mixed the top inch or so of each plants soil with diatomaceous earth and reapply neem and sprinkle some more diatomaceous earth on top of the soil every time I water. That along with yellow sticky traps has drastically reduced the population. You’ll just want to bottom water because the diatomaceous earth is largely useless after it gets wet.

Buy this. Fill watering can with warm water. Get a stocking or those aquarium zipper net bag things to put the bits it in and steep for 30 minutes then remove sack from can and water plants. Do this for all your plants for the next 2-3 regular waterings and all the fungus gnats eggs in the soil of any plant that might have been infected will be gone so it won’t spread. Also get some of those sticky trips you can stick in the soil to catch the adults. But sticky traps aren’t enough alone you’ve gotta kill all the stupid babies too. I’ve gone through the cycle a few times over the years it 10000% works

The net is too keep you from having fish little kernels out of the watering can. And Don’t put the bits directly into the soil they retain too much moisture and will cause mold. Learned the hard way.
