My prayer plant seems half healthy, half dead - flowering and sprouting new leaves but also has a lot of shriveled brown ones - what might be the cause?

If the leaves are crispy, it’s probably underwatering.

I’m new at them but the one I have got thirsty before her first flowers and I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t stay that way until she goes dormant. I’ll be watching to see. Just trim off the dead areas and try to balance her watering (don’t overwater to compensate though, that’s been my common mistake)

I’m guessing that the soil is being watered unevenly. With compact soil there are some sections of roots that get much less or none which would lead to them dying. Inspect the soil and roots. Maybe get a clear pot and aerate soil so you can see what’s happening!

I water mine by placing it under the faucet snd turning it to make sure i water all of the soil. Then i poke the soil with a chopstick to make sure the soil doesn't harden around it. Cut out all the dried and dead parts. Give it some bright indirect light. Here is mine recovering. (She earned her butterfly by pushing out new leaves). Learned my lesson! Good luck!
